Paul Dedrick Gray (1972-24 May 2010), aged 38, was an American musician, best known as bassist, composer and one of the founding members of Grammy-winning metal band Slipknot.
Gray was born in Los Angeles, California. Later his family moved to Des Moines, Iowa in his youth, Grey performed in bands such as Anal Blast, Vexx, Body Pit, and Catharsi Inveigh.
In June 2003, Gray crashed his car into another vehicle. After police were called to the scene and searched his vehicle, Gray was arrested for possession of cannabis, cocaine, drug paraphernalia and failure to obey a traffic signal. He was sentenced to one year of informal probation. The unrest occurred within fans of Slipknot when Gray's mugshot of the incident came to the surface, as now, with the exception of Corey Taylor, Joey Jordison the drummer and guitarist James Root, unobstructed photographs of most members of the faces of the band were exceptionally rare.
At the time of his death, was one of three original members of Slipknot left in the band, and the only one that has retained its original function in the band had to change the main battery clown on percussion as the first few days . It also has a brother named Tony.
